Mystic Hot Springs (previously named Monroe Hot Springs) is truly a unique outdoor bathtub soaking experience in southern Utah. I stopped here during my solo road trip through the Southwest last year in between hopping through different national parks, and I couldn’t be happier that I paid this place a visit.
The first thing I noticed upon arriving at Mystic Hot Springs was how quiet and serene the location was. If you’re planning a road trip through southern Utah, this is a spot that should definitely be added to your itinerary.

Getting to Mystic Hot Springs in Monroe, Utah
Mystic Hot Springs is located in the quiet town of Monroe in southern Utah. The hot springs are about a 2.5-hour drive from Salt Lake City and about a 3-hour drive from Moab.
Mystic Hot Springs Features
Mystic Hot Springs features a few different soaking areas: 2 concrete pools (the larger of the two is a shallow 2-ft deep pool, and a smaller 4-ft deep pool) and 6 vintage cast iron bathtubs.
The natural spring water flows consistently through all of the soaking areas, and the orange rock formations surrounding the pools and tubs were slowly created over time by the mineral deposits (calcium carbonate) from the water. You can see how these minerals created a waterfall rock formation going into the larger soaking pool.
Bathtub Soaking Passes for Mystic Hot Springs
Soaking Passes for Mystic Hot Springs are $25 per adult and $12.50 for children 12 and under. Your soaking pass gives you access to the bathtubs and all hot springs soaking areas for a 2-hour window!
I opted to visit these Monroe hot springs for the 9am-11am morning time slot since I needed to make my way to Moab that afternoon. And I honestly wouldn’t have done it any other way. Soaking in an outdoor bathtub overlooking the mountains was such a peaceful way to start the day before making the rest of my drive through southern Utah.
Day of Your Reservation at Mystic Hot Springs
I’m reading that soaking pass reservations have changed a bit since the beginning of COVID. I visited in September 2021 in the middle of the pandemic and still had an amazing experience.
When you arrive on the day of your reservation, you just need to call them to let them know you’ve arrived, and you will be given instructions on where to park and how to locate the hot springs on the property.
Is Mystic Hot Springs Clean?
Yes – Despite how it may look with the hot spring water flowing into vintage bathtubs, soaking at Mystic Hot Spring is sanitary. The concrete swimming pools are cleaned two times per week, and the bathtubs are cleaned several times per day. Also, the consistent flow of the natural spring water circulating through the soaking areas keeps everything clean and hygienically maintained. The cloudy appearance of the water is naturally occurring due to its mineral content.
Unlike how other natural hot springs are full of sulphur, the water Mystic Hot Springs contains calcium carbonate – which also means there’s no smell!
Things to Know Before your Visit to this Monroe Hot Springs
